Why call ourselves "Overflow"?

Definitions:

  • Overflow condition, a situation that occurs when more information is being transmitted than the hardware can handle

  • Arithmetic overflow, a condition that occurs when a calculation produces a result that is greater than what a given register can store or represent

  • Stack overflow in which a computer program makes too many subroutine calls and its call stack runs out of space

  • Buffer overflow, a situation whereby the incoming data size exceeds that which can be accommodated by a buffer

From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overflow

We call ourselves Overflow because firstly, in programming we will sometimes encounter the Overflow error. It may mean that we accidentally assigned a variable of a large size into a small memory size.

It represents that our ideas cannot be contained or limited, there is endless flow of critical thinking, and our creativity is limitless. We shall be the elites of the IT field.

Start Overflowing

Hi there!

NP Overflow, or NPOC, is a new Special Interests Group (SIG) in Ngee Ann Polytechnic School of InfoComm Technology.

In NP Overflow, we are a group of highly focused group of students set to compete in international, regional, and local InfoComm Technologies competitions for Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Examples of such competitions would be NIC, Imagine Cup, OpenJive and so on.

Such competitions will help us in attaining IT skills that are far beyond the teachings in tutorials and classes.

Apart from joining competitions, members also do peer tutoring to help one another in attaining various skills for various competitions. Through these activities and competitions, members can also learn more about IT, achieve greater academic results, and also gain more exposure.

From time to time NPOC also aims to organise ICT competitions for Primary, Secondary, Tertiary education and public to promote IT, identify talents and its correct use.

If you are interested in joining, do look out for our posters in ICT block 27 and 31 or take note of this blogging space.

Cheers
